I believe that the biggest problem for the Watchtower is not all of those who are leaving per se, but how those that leave are influencing potential JWs through the internet.

Right now this issue is at the center of your world. You see the Elders as the aggressors (which they can be) and also see your family trapped in the borg.
Understand the order of the day. What the Elders decide to do with you at this point will eventually decide what your family does with you. Don't forget also that no matter how much you try to "take down" these Elders nothing is really going to happen. They have their defenses set and all you will stir up is divisions and frustration on both sides.
I don't know what kind of relationship you want to have with your family. If you want to continue to have a relationship with them then the best advice you got was to talk this over with your husband and give him the control. He is not JW and can get this Elder to back away. The Elder has no power over him (but jgnat may be right about wanting to use him to control). -

January '08 "Keep on the Watch" brochure campaign cancelled
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite ini heard that a notice was sent to all boe this month removing "keep on the watch" as the featured january campaign.. can i get confirmation from anyone?.

Keep On the Watch is not a tract that would have been given away at every household like the blanket campaigns that we may be thinking of . This is a 32 page brochure, the one with a dull brown cover and a picture of an old man reading a newspaper next to a globe of the world..
If it was to be featured, and now is not, I do not think it is a big deal..ditto

according to a JW , the internet is the anti-christ
by candidlynuts inyup..silliest thing i've ever heard to date.. i was out and about today this guy was an older man , walking up to people and shoving watchtowers in their hands like dive bombing witnessing.
i stuck my hand out and stopped him and just asked if he'd ever researched his own religion on the internet, that there was a lot one could learn about any religion and its history online now .
he said that the internet is quickly becoming identified as the anti christ then he ran off to shove more watchtowers in peoples hands with barely a word.

by hamsterbait inwith regard to sodom and gomorrah jesus said it would be more endurable for them on judgment day.. the wt says this is irony, as these people will not get a resurrection (under current interpretative votes of the gb).
jesus also said it would be more endurable for tyre and sidon on judgement day and others - whom the witchtower does not say will not be resurrected (unlike the sodomites theo g. take note!!).
so when jesus says this generation will by no means "pass away" - no more than his words - is he being ironic too.. ie jesus is saying "it is unthinkable that this generation(the "annointed ") will "pass away" completely from the earth before the end comes.. i dont know greek, but this sounds like what they are fishing for.

Since the WT seems to maintain two fulfillments of Matthew 24//, hence two distinct generations, how and when did the first generation "pass away"? I suspect the answer will be along the line of the "great apostasy" following the death of the apostolic generation, yet by the 95/07 WT definitions, a generation is no longer terminated by the death of the people who were there at the beginning (terminus a quo ). More generally, how can such a new-WT-style "generation " ever "pass away"? But of course the Gospel saying is meaningless if it can't .
A question I asked myself over and over again when I first began to examine the Watchtower. I suppose it's a testimoney as to how the Watchtower has no need in actually discussing their theology at all levels. The membership is sold on their theology and that's all that counts. Who cares about the details?
Officially I would be interested in getting an answer. Any active JWs feel like sending in a letter?

The host was just starting to grill a JW about the issues purplesofa brough up and then he ran out of time
For as far as the host got it was pretty good. the JW admitted that taking blood is like worshiping satan and that he would have no hope if he took it. To bad it couldn't be talked about more, getting into the phycological pressures members of the JWs face.
